Taupe Lovers Rejoice
After a noticeable absence, a lovely series of 45 neutral yarn dyed fabrics is newly available. Although not
from the offical Taupe designers, these high quality Japanese fabrics are sure to please your neutral plaid palette and your pocket book
too, as this collection is a wee bit cheaper than the original, selling for $20 per metre.
Stunning New Batiks from Ghana
A long awaited shipment of 50 new batiks is finally here! Some of my personal
favourites are pictured below. These rich fabrics are part of an evolving collection of hand wood blocked and hand dyed prints,
produced especially for Kallisti Quilts by a women's cooperative in rural Ghana. These authentic batiks are the creative community
effort of women pursuing self-sufficiency and education for their children. Although the cost of supplies and transport have increased
since the previous shipment, Kallisti Quilts remains committed to the original retail price of $12 per metre. All prints are limited to
12 yards each, and cannot be reordered.
Japanese Dobby Solids
Five NEW colours have been added to the collection. These popular dobby cloth solids make great sashings, borders and backgrounds. Pictured
below are all of the colours currently available: pale olive, slate blue, cadet blue, lavender, purple, rust, chestnut, coral, raspberry, bright gold,
mustard and black. Taupe, gray, brown and barn red are not currently available. All fabrics are 100% cotton,
45" wide and cost $20 per metre.
Ouka Now Limited
From Ouka of Japan, these unique striped 100% you-won't-believe-it's-cotton jacquard prints are silky soft, slightly stretchy and drape beautifully.
Fabrics are 44" wide, consisting of three 11" wide bands of watercoloury solid and two 5 1/2" wide bands of mediating colours
overprinted with delicate cream cherry blossoms. A single whimsical strand of cherry blossoms runs across the width every 12". The original
five colourways available are shown below: orange/coral, pink/red/yellow, purple/blue/teal,
sage/olive/bronze and black/grey/rust (sold out). Fabrics cost $20 per metre and quantity is limited.
